Beltrán, nicknamed "Lola la Grande" (Lola the Great), was born in El Rosario, Sinaloa, Mexico, into a working-class family. Her love for singing was ignited by the church choir, and her passion for ballads grew strong. In 1953, she and her mother moved to Mexico City to pursue her music career.

Beltrán landed a secretarial job at the renowned radio station XEW. Her chance encounter with singer Matilde Sánchez led to her first on-air singing contest, where she not only won but also impressed the producers, securing her a recording contract. She began her career covering popular songs and eventually landed her own radio show.

Driven by bigger dreams, Beltrán collaborated with songwriters to craft stories that resonated with the Mexican people, particularly the working class. Her melancholic voice and heartfelt delivery of songs like "Cucurrucucú paloma" and "Cielito Lindo" propelled her to national fame.

Beltrán transcended boundaries, becoming the first Ranchera singer to perform at the prestigious Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City. She also performed for presidents and global leaders, earning her the unofficial title of "Ambassador of the Ranchera."

Throughout her illustrious career, Beltrán recorded over 100 albums, starred in 50 films, and hosted various musical shows. She is remembered for her powerful voice, captivating performances, and unwavering dedication to her craft.
